1972- Transmar shipping Co. S.A. registered in Panama as a law 89 Company, was formed in 1972 and has had a continuous existence ever since.

1972/1976- Transmar shipping was appointed by the New York based New England Petroleum Corp. to act as crew agent/stores purchaser for its fleet of tankers, including two VLCCs.

1975- The Company was awarded a long term contract by the Greek concern of “N. Stassinopoulos Group of Companies”, to transport clay on their behalf from N.Europe to Greece and to M.East. In order to fulfill its obligations, Transmar operated two small vessels of 840 and 1.400 dwt, which were sold a year later, but continued honoring the contract by time/voyage chartering similar vessels.

1975/1980- Transmar entered into a joint venture with LIDIA MARINE Corp. of New York, holding a 33% stake management of two geared bulk-carriers, the M/V Caribbean Memories year of built 1961 0f 13.700 dwt and the M/V Caribbean Nostalgia year of built 1956 of 13.560 dwt. The joint venture lasted successfully until 1980 when it was dissolved and consequently Transmar took over full management of the M/V Caribbean Memories, renamed M/V Thanic.

1980- Transmar managed another vessel, the M/V Margarita a gearless bulker built in 1960 of 19.600 dwt.

1982- The M/V Athanasios K a 26.350 dwt built in 1969 was added to the existing fleet, advancing the total number of fully managed ships to three. 

1985- A tactical move in view of sustained crisis in Shipping drove the Company ceased to act as operator and concentrated on its agency activities.

1988/1989- The Company operated the M/V Goodkid a 29.600 dwt Bulk/log carrier, built in 1973, the M/V Goodpal a 42.007 dwt bulk-carrier, built in 1977 and the M/V KEN SKY a 41.000 dwt buk-carrier, which were added to the fleet in a joint venture with Chrimar, holding the 50% stake management of the above mentioned vessels.  In 1989 the M/V Goodkid was sold.

1991- The joint venture lasted until 1991 when it was dissolved and Transmar took over full management  of the M/V Goodpal.

1992- Transmar operated another vessel, the M/V Callian S 32.300 dwt built 1974, which was sold in 1995.

1996- Transmar operated the M/V New World, bulk-carrier 38.305 dwt built in 1984.

1999- The M/V Goodpal was sold on November 1999.

2003- Transmar operated the M/V New Wind, bulk carrier 41.377 dwt built 1985.

2004- Transmar operated the M/V New Wave, bulk carrier 39.670 dwt build 1985.

2005- Ôhe M/V New World was sold on February 2005.

operated the M/V New Power, bulk carrier 43.665 dwt built 1989
        - Transmar operated the M/V New Flame, bulk carrier 43.814 dwt built 1994.

2006- Ôhe M/V New Wind was sold on July 2006.
        -
Ôhe M/V New Wave was sold on July 2006.

2007- Transmar operated the M/V New Fortune, bulk carrier 44.820,10 dwt built 1994.

2007- On November the M/V New Flame was declared an actual total loss after a collision with M/T Torm Gertrud on 12th of August off Gibraltar.

2008- Transmar operated the M/V New Glory, bulk carrier 48.193 dwt built 2001.

2009 - The M/V New Power was sold on April 2009.

Today Transmar functions as operator having the management of M/V New Fortune and M/V New Glory at 100%.

We specialize in the Handymax Bulk carrier sector because we believe it is the safest and most flexible market for the following reasons:

  3. The gap difference in freight revenues for Handymax Bulkcarriers between blooming and recession periods is smaller compared to other type of bulk carriers (Panamax, Capesize).

  4. Charterers preferable vessel type.

  5. Able to transit Panama and Suez Canal.

  6. No draft limitations for most ports.

  7. Geared vessels.

MANAGEMENT TEAM

TRANSMAR has an in-house management team and encompassing every aspect of a vessel’s day to day operation, covering technical, manning, insurance and chartering.

It is our conviction that every ship is only as good as the men that sail her and we have taken several steps to achieve the desired standard in the management.

Transmar is certified to the ISM Code. (DOC Transmar, SMC New Fortune and SMC New Glory).

The Fleet participates in the AMVER System since September 2007.
Transmar is a member of HELMEPA since 25/02/2008.  
Transmar is a member of BIMCO since 03/03/2008.

The management team of Transmar includes a marine Engineer, two Master Mariners and a Safety consultant with long experience with practical and technical skills essential for modern day ship management.
